Bahwan Veolia Water, a joint venture of Veolia and Bahwan Engineering Company, has won a five-year operation and maintenance contract for the Al Asilah desalination plant in South Al Sharqiyah, Oman, according to SaudiGulf Projects. The outlet reports that the plant produces 80,000 cubic metres of drinking water a day and has an on-site solar farm. It says Al Asilah is the fourth major desalination plant Veolia operates in Oman, and that together with the Sur plant it serves about 600,000 residents of South Al Sharqiyah. The report gives no contract value, start date or client, and no primary announcement from Veolia or the plant's owner was found.
