• EgyptArab Water Academy: training arm of the Arab Water CouncilStill operating, but no longer from Abu Dhabi: it runs short training programmes and technical seminars for Arab water leaders, experts and decision-makers on the water-energy-food nexus, water diplomacy, virtual water and water-status indicators, desalination technology, climate security and AI in water resources management, under a 2025-2030 strategy.
• JordanArab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA): Capacity Building programmeTwo certification streams for utility staff: multi-level operator certification with TVSDC and WPI in water treatment, distribution, water quality and laboratories, water safety planning, non-revenue water, wastewater collection and treatment and industrial wastewater management; and ACWUA-certified managerial courses in water governance, utility leadership, GIS applications and wastewater systems, plus an e-learning platform.
• JordanJordan University of Science and Technology: Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of EngineeringA BSc in civil engineering plus taught master's degrees including an MSc in Civil Engineering - Water Resources and Environment and a separate MSc in Water Diplomacy introduced on a 2024 plan, with doctoral study in civil engineering.
• JordanThe University of Jordan: Water, Energy and Environment Center (WEEC)An independent research centre for water, energy and environment, running applied research for Jordan's water ministries and authorities and operating accredited water, waste, microbiology, instrumental and chemical-analysis laboratories, with periodic scientific workshops rather than a standing course catalogue.
• KuwaitKuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR): Water Research CenterA national research centre and focal point for KISR's research, policy and technical services on Kuwait's water needs, working on desalination technology, replenishment of water reserves, wastewater reclamation and optimisation of freshwater distribution networks, rather than an open course programme.
• LebanonAmerican University of Beirut: Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and ArchitectureA Master of Engineering in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering offered on either a thesis or a non-thesis track, with students specialising in environmental engineering or water resources engineering and minoring in the other, plus a PhD in the same field.
• Saudi ArabiaKing Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST): Water Desalination and Reuse Research Platform (formerly the Water Desalination and Reuse Center, WDRC)A research platform on desalination, wastewater treatment and water reuse rather than a course provider; graduate training runs through KAUST's MS and PhD degrees in Environmental Science and Engineering, with the platform hosting the labs and supervisors.
• Saudi ArabiaKing Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM): Interdisciplinary Research Center for Membranes and Water Security (IRC-MWS)An interdisciplinary research centre on membrane separation and water security that trains graduate and undergraduate students through programmes run jointly with KFUPM departments, and hosts a regular seminar and webinar series.
• TurkeyMiddle East Technical University (METU): Water Resources division, Department of Civil EngineeringGraduate studies in water resources engineering covering engineering hydrology, hydraulics and water resources management, with a distinct graduate programme in Hydropower Engineering, taught around the METU Water Resources Laboratory and its hydrological and hydraulic modelling facilities.
• United Arab EmiratesInternational Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA): Capacity Development programmeTailored technical training programmes delivered online and in person on sustainable water and land management, climate change adaptation, biosaline agriculture, climate modelling, crop diversification, plant biotechnology and integrated agri-aquaculture, alongside e-learning, fellowships, internships and farmer field schools.
